About us
The Biomedical Engineering (NP-BME) Society is an undergraduate service and social organization that aims to enhance the learning journey of BME students through the organization of academic-oriented and recreational activities. With a strong culture of servant leadership, it is a club chaired by students, for the students.
In the BME family, we work hard and play hard, lecturers and students alike. For enriching learning activities that compliment classroom lessons, we regularly invite industry professionals and academia to provide insight on the latest technological and research developments. Field trips and industrial visits are in the pipeline.
To unwind from the daily grind, the NP-BME Society initiates days dedicated for fun in the sun with beach outings, mini-sports tournaments and parties during festive seasons. These provide excellent opportunities for students and lecturers to forge bonds during their time in Ngee Ann Polytechnic.
Ultimately, the NP-BME Society serves to create an environment in which lecturers and students feel at home. Members of the BME family can be easily identified by their cherubic dynamic personalities and of course, the BME polo shirts.

These are some examples of our previous learning events

  • Guest Professor - Bioengineering Research
  • Industry Insights- Spinal Implants
  • Annual Scientific Meetings

And, of course, the social activities

  • Annual BBQ
  • T-shirt Design Competition
  • Beach outings
  • Badminton mini-tournament
  • X'mas Party

Activities
The BME Club organizes academic activities as well as recreational activities in the interest of the lecturers and students. This is to ensure that besides studying, there will still be time for some fun and relaxation during their 3 years in BME.

Thus far, the club has organized social BBQ gatherings, badminton tournaments, BME science workshops, open houses to the various secondary school students, talks by the professionals, BME Welcoming Party for our freshmen, and also our very own BME Christmas Party. These events will not only help strengthen the bond between students, but also between students and lecturers.

In addition, the club has also come out with a “BME T-shirt” designed by our own students, and more recently, a “BME Jacket”. This will create a common identity among the students and also to inculcate a sense of belonging to them.

BME has also won “Overall Champion” and “Best Teamwork” in the ECE Christmas Decoration Competition in 2006 which is the fruit of the combined efforts of BME students. To top it up, the club will continue to work towards our goal in enriching the students and promoting the BME profession.
