Medical Imaging

Our research areas in medical imaging covers the following areas:

a) DIABETES - Diabetes is a disorder of metabolism—the way our bodies use digested food for growth and energy. The most common form of diabetes is type 2 diabetes. Abnormal plantar pressures are considered to play a major role in the pathologies of neuropathic ulcers in the diabetic foot. The purpose of this study was to examine the plantar pressure distribution in normal, diabetic type II with and without neuropathy subjects.

b) EYE DISORDERS ( CORNEA) – Eye disorders among the elderly are a major health problem. With advancing age, the normal function of eye tissues decreases and there is an increased incidence of ocular pathology. The most common causes of age related eye disorder and visual impairment in the elderly are cataracts and primary open angle glaucoma. Ulceration of the cornea typically presents with a red, painful eye, with mild to severe discharge and reduced vision. Computer based intelligent system for classification eye diseases can be very useful in diagnostics.
